Debut is excited to be hiring Teacher Artists to share their passion for the theatre arts with young people. Classes meet for 15 weeks with a performance at the end of the semester. Individuals must have awareness of both the acting and technical theatre aspects of live theatre and the acumen to inspire young people to learn “hands-on”.

Founded in 1991, Debut theatre is a non-profit theatre school based upon production of classic literature in a troupe structure. DTC is an equal opportunity employer.

Ages 8-10        First Stage        Once a week for 1.5 hours      (4-5:30)   Beginner level

Ages 11-14      Stage Two        Once a week for 2 hours         (6-8:00)   Beginner level

Responsibilities:

Ability to create a conducive learning environment that is fun, approachable, inclusive, and safe

Fosters collaboration, communication, creativity, and empathy

Collaborates with Assistant Director and staff

Creates lesson plans

Prepare students for semester ending performance (scripts provided)

Able to teach a range of experience, maturity and personalities

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree. Teaching or performing arts preferred

Acting experience

Backstage and design experience

Teaching experience

Strong communication skills

Able to be trusted with responsibility

Able to pass background check

Compensation:

$20 an hour
