Debut Players

Our Premier Youth Troupe

This is Debut's advanced, audition-only troupe for experienced, confident, and committed young artists, ages 10-17. The Players are the signature company of Debut Theatre and are renowned for performing high-quality productions of classic literature at the Lincoln Center Magnolia Theatre. Membership involves intensive, hands-on training in every aspect of theatre, including acting and comprehensive technical production. Students in this troupe are held to a high standard and treated as professionals.

Debut Players Auditions

A woman dressed in vintage clothing with large glasses and a feathered hat looks surprised as a girl with red hair in period attire cries on her lap in a staged play.

Held once a year in June for openings in both semesters, the audition includes:

  • A 15-minute orientation, for which a parent or guardian needs to be present

  • A written interview

  • Prepared monologue performances

  • Cold scenes readings provided by the director

Monologue Requirement: A prepared, memorized monologue from a theatre source, lasting 2 to 3 minutes, is REQUIRED.

Before auditioning, you should be familiar with the requirements and costs involved with the Debut Players Troupe. DO NOT audition if you have never seen a Debut Players show. You are not auditioning for a specific role — you are auditioning to become a member of this advanced troupe.
